Scooter Rental FAQs

If you have questions about scooter rentals, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve gathered the most frequently asked questions when renting a scooter from ERYD – along with clear answers.

RIDING AND SAFETY-RELATED SCOOTER RENTAL QUESTIONS

How fast do the units go?

It depends on the scooter. Kick Scooters top out at 25 miles per hour, while our Fat Tire and Fat Tire Trike models both have a 30 MPH speed limit.

Are these rental scooters hard to ride?

Not at all. The Fat Tire and Fat Tire Trike are particularly easy to ride because of their bike-style configuration, but our Kick Scooter is also quick to learn.

Also, no matter what, an ERYD associate will check to make sure you’re 100% comfortable on the unit before you ride out.

How far can I go?

Generally speaking, our scooters can travel between 30 and 40 miles on a single charge. That number might fluctuate just above or below that range depending on the ryders weight and your chosen speed mode. Regardless, you should have plenty of time to see the highlights of Houston or San Antonio!

Where can I ride?

Enjoy your ERYD scooter on any road or walkway that allows for bicycle travel. But you cannot take our scooters off-road for any reason. We also expect you to follow all local bicycle traffic laws, so if you see any signs that forbid bicycles, those also apply to you.

Why the space theme?

We started ERYD in Houston, a city with no shortage of nicknames. Because we’re the home base for NASA Mission Control, “Space City” is our favorite. Think of each RYD you take on one of our scooters as an interstellar journey.

RIDER REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES

What are your age requirements?

Riders who want to travel on their own must be 18 or older and provide proof of age. However, with adult supervision, riders aged 15-17 can also enjoy all the thrills ERYD scooters have to offer.

What happens if I damage the unit?

We hold each rider responsible for any damage to the unit while it’s in your possession. Before your ride, be sure to inspect the unit and let an ERYD team member know if you find any damages or potential problems. (Those wouldn’t be your responsibility, of course.)

We do offer insurance for an additional fee. It covers any damage to the unit except for theft.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that you let us know about any cancellations no less than 24 hours before your scheduled ride.

Refunds are not available for same-day cancellations. Also, if you arrive for your ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs, we won’t allow you to ride and you must pay the full price of the rental, with no refund possible.

Do you require a deposit?

You don’t need a deposit to book an ERYD scooter. Simply pay the price per hour when you rent or choose from our daily and group pricing options.
